Glare is the brief

In a sports hall most of the play happens with eyes up. A luminaire that looks fine from the stands can be blinding from the court. We design from the player's viewpoint first: luminaire positions avoid the principal sight lines (above the basket, above the badminton net line), and shielded optics hide the LED source at high viewing angles.

Levels and uniformity

Training and school use sits comfortably at class III levels; competition and televised events need much more, with vertical illuminance towards cameras. Dimmable drivers let a single installation serve all of them.

Practical points

• Ball-impact resistance and guards for low-ceiling halls.
• Flicker-free drivers for broadcast and phone slow-motion.
• Maintenance access: in multi-use halls, fixtures may only be reachable with a lift on specific days — long rated life matters more than in most applications.
